Happiness on Top of Nagakerd Mountain
Big Buddha Phuket, or in full name Phraphutthamingmongkhol-akenagakhiri Buddha, is one of the religious landmarks in Phuket and an alternative for locals and tourists to visit other than the coastal nature and the city.
Adorned with white jade marble, the seated Buddha concrete statue was appointed as the treasure of Muang Phuket by Somdech Phra Yanasangvara, The Supreme Patriarch of Thailand in 2008 with reverence by Mr Suporn Wanichakul, the president of the corporation creating the Buddha statue.
As a form of respect to the Buddha as Buddhanusati, the Great Buddha represents the way to make merit, legend of the land, centre of the mind, communicating instrument to spread Buddha’s Dharma and path to Nirvana as well as the Buddhist society.
